Union Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya Visits Auroville to Review Development Projects
Auroville, India – May 9, 2025 — The Honourable Dr. Mansukh L. Mandaviya, Union Minister of Labour and Employment and Youth Affairs and Sports, visited Auroville today to gain firsthand insight into the community’s unique development initiatives.
Upon his arrival, the Hon’ble Minister was warmly welcomed by the team at Swagatham Guest House, managed by the Auroville Foundation. His itinerary included visits to key sites integral to Auroville’s growth and vision:
- Matrimandir – the spiritual center of Auroville
- SAIIER (Sri Aurobindo International Institute of Educational Research)
- Crown Road – part of the city’s physical and infrastructural planning
The Auroville Town Development Council (ATDC), SAIIER team, and members of the Working Committee participated in an in-depth meeting with the Minister. They presented updates on development projects supported by the Auroville Foundation and discussed the socio-cultural, educational, and ecological impact of their work.
Special mention was made of the leadership and vision of Dr. Jayanti S. Ravi, Secretary of the Auroville Foundation, in guiding and facilitating these transformative initiatives.
The Hon’ble Minister appreciated the integrative and community-driven approach of Auroville, particularly its emphasis on sustainable infrastructure, value-based education, and youth empowerment.
This visit marks a continuing collaboration and growing interest of the Government of India in Auroville’s development model as a living laboratory for human unity and innovation. The Auroville Foundation reaffirmed its commitment to furthering India’s development goals through holistic, inclusive, and sustainable practices rooted in the philosophy of Sri Aurobindo and The Mother.
