Auroville, April 23, 2025 — A high-level delegation from the Madhya Pradesh Education Department visited the Auroville Foundation to explore long-term collaborations in holistic education, teacher training, and National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 implementation.

The visiting team included senior education officials:

  1. Kamna Acharya, Additional Director
  2. Pramod Singh, Deputy Director
  3. Sashikant Kubrelay, Assistant Director
  4. Nishikant Joshi, Officer on Special Duty
  5. Ashok Patke, Project Officer

Addressing the delegation virtually, Dr. Jayanthi S. Ravi, Secretary of Auroville Foundation and Additional Chief Secretary of Gujarat, emphasized the significance of Sri Aurobindo and The Mother’s educational vision.

“It is important to spread Auroville’s integral education model across the country. We look forward to a deep and long-term collaboration with Madhya Pradesh,” she stated.

Key Highlights from the Visit:

  1. Discussions with Auroville Institutions: The delegation interacted with the Sri Aurobindo International Institute of Educational Research (SAIIER) and other educators to understand Auroville’s experiential, out-of-classroom, and holistic learning model, which aligns with NEP 2020.
  2. Cascade Teacher Training Program: A plan was proposed to train over 2.5 lakh teachers across Madhya Pradesh via a cascade model. Auroville would first train master trainers, who would then disseminate the holistic pedagogy throughout the state.

  4. Sustainable Development Projects: The delegation explored joint projects in green buildings, renewable energy, and sustainable community development.
  5. Hands-on School Visits: Delegates toured Auroville’s educational facilities and met with trainers to examine ongoing efforts in curriculum innovation, teacher empowerment, and physical education.
Dr. Sanjeev Ranganathan, Chairman of SAIIER, emphasized the development of the physical, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual dimensions of each learner in Auroville's education system.

Next Steps:

  1. 100 teachers from Madhya Pradesh will be selected for holistic pedagogy training during the upcoming summer vacation.
  2. Both parties have agreed to hold follow-up meetings to chart the course for long-term educational collaboration.
