In a landmark step toward actualizing the Mother’s dream, the Auroville Foundation, in collaboration with the Tamil Nadu Revenue Administration, has initiated transformative conversations to accelerate the township’s sustainable growth. This high-level meeting took place at the Villupuram Collectorate, bringing together key decision-makers to align development efforts with the visionary 1968 Galaxy Plan.

Presiding over the meeting was Dr. Jayanti S. Ravi, IAS, Secretary of the Auroville Foundation and Additional Chief Secretary of Gujarat, alongside top officials from the Auroville Township Development Council (ATDC), the Villupuram district administration, and members of Auroville’s Land Board and Office of Special Duty.

Key Outcomes of the Meeting

🌍 Reaffirming the Galaxy Plan

Dr. Jayanti S. Ravi emphasized the significance of the Mother’s Galaxy Plan, the original blueprint for Auroville’s evolution into a universal township. Highlighting the ongoing Matrimandir Lake Project and Crown Road, she acknowledged the continuous support of the Villupuram administration in enabling the realization of these pivotal elements.

🗺️ Land Exchange & Revenue Regularization

Villupuram Collector Mr. S. Shiek Abdul Rahman, IAS, and Additional Collector Mrs. J.E. Padmaja, IAS, expressed commitment to expedite land exchange processes within the city area. Importantly, they pledged action on revenue record corrections to resolve long-standing issues, ensuring that all patta lands within the Master Plan are secure and fully utilizable.

🏙️ Infrastructure for 50,000 Residents

Looking ahead, Dr. Ravi unveiled plans for the future of Auroville’s urban infrastructure. These include schools, residential complexes, and a visionary 18-story building, accommodating the projected population of 50,000 residents. These developments are designed to uplift the entire bio-region economically, environmentally, and socially—echoing the Mother’s ideals of integrated, harmonious living.

🚧 Dedicated VIP Access Road

An important infrastructure milestone discussed was the creation of a VIP Access Road through the southwestern green belt. This project, backed by central government grants and Auroville’s technical expertise, is expected to strengthen connectivity and enable strategic development.

Voices from the Ground
